On 15 November 2023, QuadGen Pharmaceuticals, has acceded to and signed the landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between brand owners and e-commerce platforms like Lazada, Shopee, TikTok and Zalora during the week-long Intellectual Property Enforcement Summit that is currently being held at Marriott Hotel Manila in Pasay City.

The MoU, which is considered as one of the best IP enforcement practices in the ASEAN region, seeks to promote camaraderie among brand owners and e-commerce platforms in addressing and combating counterfeiting and piracy activities in the cyberspace. And ๐๐ฎ๐š๐๐†๐ž๐ง ๐ก๐ฎ๐ฆ๐›๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐ญ๐š๐ค๐ž๐ฌ ๐ฉ๐ซ๐ข๐๐ž ๐š๐ฌ ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐ฏ๐ž๐ซ๐ฒ ๐Ÿ๐ข๐ซ๐ฌ๐ญ ๐Œ๐’๐Œ๐„ ๐š๐ง๐ ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ๐ŸŽ% ๐…๐ข๐ฅ๐ข๐ฉ๐ข๐ง๐จ-๐จ๐ฐ๐ง๐ž๐ ๐ฉ๐ก๐š๐ซ๐ฆ๐š๐œ๐ž๐ฎ๐ญ๐ข๐œ๐š๐ฅ ๐œ๐จ๐ฆ๐ฉ๐š๐ง๐ฒ ๐ญ๐จ ๐ฃ๐จ๐ข๐ง ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐Œ๐จ๐” with multinational companies such as Guess group of companies, Procter & Gamble, Uniqlo, Dyson, Nestle, Hermes, Chanel, Disney/Marvel, Lacoste, Leviโ€™s, Nike, LEGO group to name a few of now 34 official signatories. Truly, QuadGenโ€™s accession to the MoU is in line with the IPOPHILโ€™s advocacy and policy to diversify and expand the coverage of the said international commercial treaty.

The importation per se of pharmaceutical products not registered with the Philippines’ Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is also defined as “counterfeit drug/medicine” and is a violation of Republic Act 8203 or the Special Law of Counterfeit Drugs, these grey market products could also be counterfeits in violation of the IP Code of 1997.
